C.O.L.D. (Computer Output to Laser Disk)
COLD is an electronic document management system currently utilized by agencies including the Department of Social and Health Services (DSHS), ASD Division, SSPS Department. The COLD system allows raw data to be converted into reports that are accessible via the web.
Prior to the implementation of this system at DSHS over 450,000 pages of material were printed and distributed every month now that report is no longer necessary. This saves money on postage, printing and paper. All reports previously mailed to offices throughout Washington are available through a web browser. The reports are converted into files held in cache for 30 days before being archived to optical disks. The material is still available but stored on a more secure media. This material is transferred to, scrubbed by, and hosted, on a server located at Morningside. We have successfully managed this contract for over 5 years. Personnel from over 300 offices statewide access the data.
